“Familiar Stranger” captures the uncanny moment of meeting a creature who appears entirely other-worldly, yet evokes a startling sense of recognition. In the orangutan’s steady, knowing gaze, there is an ancient intelligence—one that seems to look straight through the human mask and into something deeper. Though separated by form, species, and worlds, a bridge is created in the silence: a feeling of being seen, understood, and quietly acknowledged by a being so different, yet somehow profoundly familiar.
16x20” acrylic and oil on canvas, framed in a custom-made gallery-depth black stained floating frame made by Rustic Burl & Co. out of Ontario.
