As many of you know I have been off social media for the last few months and I don't plan on re-engaging social media platforms anytime soon- so I am endeavoring to keep you in the loop via my website and monthly newsletters: if you haven't signed up yet, I strongly recommend it!
I have been working these last few months on a very special project! I've included a photo for you to see a little sneaky peak into my building gallery for this new series.
I'm painting people for the first time in my life! That's something I thought Id never do, and I likely wouldn't have ever attempted it, except that this series of paintings was transported into my brain as visions down to the smallest detail and I felt a responsibility to paint them into reality. This series is very deep and meaningful attempting to bring light and love into the ways that our beginnings and ending phases of life are the same. A toddler and an elderly woman both needing help walking, a grandpa and grandson both needing to be spoon-fed their meals, a grandma and granddaughter both using extra seat-support in making a trip to the bathroom, a grandpa and grandson napping together...and several more I have yet to paint. Writing out these scenes does not sound magical at all, but the visions I had of the scenes brings such joy into each experience. I feel the way these paintings celebrate our elderly by bringing in childlike wonder into each scene make these paintings so precious. I am SO proud of how they've been turning out so far and I can't wait to release them all together once they are complete.
