New Painting Collection!

New Painting Collection!

I am SO excited to share with you this beloved new collection of paintings. This has been in the works for about a year, and all the paintings have now been completed, varnished and framed with custom-made frames.

You may notice that these paintings are very different from my regular wildlife paintings… I’ve said many times I will NEVER paint people. Well, that all had to change when I received these paintings from God in my mind to paint…. Never say never. Let me backup a little and tell you more of where the inspiration for these pieces came from:

I was concluding my home care work last Summer and reflecting a lot on the similarities between the beginning and end stages of life. I was thinking about my time at home with little kids and how there’s so many parallels between these life stages. Caring for an elderly person there’s a lot more accessories and gear around the house to help with mobility like walkers and canes- not unlike strollers. There are common threads like needing help eating, walking and even needing assistance using the washroom that both these life stages share.

One day, as I was driving home these vivid images of each of the paintings you see above came into my mind with extreme detail a clarity. I pulled over over an began writing down every single detail of each these images. Later I tried to make sketches from my brain of each of these scenes and failed miserably. It was then that I discovered the use of AI. Being able to describe each image down to exact detail is actually what helped create these blueprints for me to work from an enabled me to paint these visions into reality.

Likely if you already know me well you won’t be surprised to hear my relationship with God is my deepest value; and so it makes sense that the only way I would even consider painting people is if God entrusted me with the images to paint. How can I say no to that?!

This collection, as with most of my work, is focused on connection. Each painting captures the moment of delight and connect between a very young person and very old one. The paintings each highlight something the two stages of life share in common. I’m calling the collection: The Bookends of Life. There are 7 paintings in total, 6 of them are 8x10” and one is 12x16”. All paintings are done in acrylic and oil on canvas.

All of that to say I’m extremely proud of this work and as they’ve been divinely inspired, I feel they belong somewhere special. They won’t be for sale, as I believe they have a deeper purpose. As to why that is, I’m still in the dark. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! Thanks for taking the time to read about them and view my latest work. Below are close-up images of each piece for your viewing pleasure:
